The TAFE Tasmania partnership

The number one is important to Hazell Bros. It is to TAFE Tasmania too. That's why they partner together, because they both understand that being number one means empowering employees to steer the company into the future.

Our people are the heart and soul of the business, and the Group's number one asset. The Company claims many Tasmanian 'number ones': leading construction company; largest quarry holdings; and owner of the largest privately owned fleet of equipment and vehicles.

Managing Director, Geoffrey Hazell, sees training as a key ingredient in its success and ability to grow.

"We recognise success depends on training, integrity, staff retention and reward. Training ensures our employees feel a sense of ownership of the company. Training can equip our people with the skills that will put our company into safe hands," Mr Hazell said

"Training builds our capacity for growth by allowing us to enter new markets, grow existing markets, build new relationships and encouraging loyalty.

"There was a period in the construction industry when there was no training and today, as a result, we see the skills shortage. You have to train so you have a growing workforce for the future," he said.

"TAFE Tasmania offers us flexibility in training delivery, tailoring training packages to suit individuals. TAFE Tasmania provides us with custom training programs, which are on or off the job depending on our needs," he said.

Hazell Bros has developed a strong working relationship with TAFE Tasmania over the past five years. It is a relationship that continues to grow.
