Hazell Bros has been announced as a winner of the 2009 Australian Business Award for Enterprise.

The Australian Business Awards recognise organisations that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, product excellence, sustainability and commercial success in their respective industries.

Hazell Bros Managing Director Geoffrey Hazell said that the win is a significant achievement for Hazell Bros, and highlights to the nation the high standard of business in Tasmania.

"We are honoured to be presented this national award," Mr Hazell said.

"Hazell Bros started in 1944 when my father Donald bought his first truck and began a carting business with his brother, Rowley.

"From their tentative start 65 years ago, many ventures and loyal people have followed to build the Company to what it is today.

"As we celebrate 65 years in business, we have always approached decisions with vision, strategic direction and innovation in mind, but confident in our values and loyalty for each other," he said.

The 2009 Australian Business Awards have been presented to sixty-seven organisations selected from a field of 928 entrants across various industries. The successful organisations from this broad field have achieved award winning standards in a diverse range of areas including enterprise, innovation, quality, value, product excellence, service excellence, retail excellence, e-business, international trade, marketing excellence, human resource management, public service, community contribution and environmental sustainability.
