Hazell Bros takes on Relay
25/2/2008
to fund vital Tasmanian cancer support and information servicesThe 58 Hazell Bros Relay for Life team members may have been saturated, wind-blown and frozen following the Hobart event, but nothing could dampen their spirits!
The team of employees and their families completed the 22 hour walk at the Domain from 23-24 February, raising more than $1,200 to support cancer sufferers and raise money for cancer research.
More than 3,000 people took part in this year's Hobart event of Relay for Life, which is likely to raise more than $1 million dollars state wide.
The Cancer Council Tasmania CEO Lawson Ride says money raised at Relay events makes a real difference to the lives of Tasmanians affected by cancer.
Mr Ride says the Tasmanian community is particularly generous, raising $2 per head of population at Relay For Life events around the state.
"Currently, in no other state has Relay For Life raised a $1 per head of population yet," he said.
Relay For Life is the biggest cancer fundraiser in Australia raising millions of dollars nationwide.
