HBG Blasts City to Casino Record

14/5/2008

Hazell Bros has a record 149 people entered in the City to Casino Heart Foundation event this weekend.  The Employer of Choice Company has achieved the largest team entry in the 36 year history of the event - beating the old record by 111.

13 members of the team are running in the 11km category from the Showgrounds, and the remaining 136 participants are walking in the 7km category from CornelianBay.

The Hazell Bros Team is made up of employees and their families, and includes 10 children, grandchildren, and great grand children of the Company's founder, Donald Hazell.

Geoffrey Hazell, Managing Director said "As a statewide Company with over 500 people, we are proud to have employees from across the State getting into the team spirit of this event."

"These events are a way to engage our people - and they really get everybody talking," he said.

Hazell Bros Director, Robert Hazell, said employee health and wellbeing is very important.

"Hazell Bros is supporting employees by establishing teams and covering their entry fee in events such City to Casino, Relay for Life, Global Corporate Challenge and Point to Pinnacle.

"One of the biggest benefits to the Group has been the team spirit, which aligns with our Company values of 'Working Together for One Company'," he said.

Hazell Bros Group has organised a Team BBQ at the completion of the event, to celebrate the record breaking achievement.

Geraldine Camilleri, Heart Foundation State Manager for Income and Development, said that Hazell Bros' entry was a fantastic achievement.

"We are thrilled to see Hazell Bros showing such great initiative by getting so many of their employees, friends and families out in the fresh air and walking or running in the City to Casino event," she said.

The City to Casino Fun Run and Walk will be held this Sunday 18 May.
