Harvey Norman Homemaker Centre, Cambridge

Hazell Bros and the newly integrated Bells Constructions and Technologies are completing earthworks and building works for the Harvey Norman Homemaker Centre.  This project includes the construction of a new Harvey Norman Super Store, several adjoining tenancies, large areas of external drainage, roads and carparks.

Large volume concrete pours have commenced on site, forming slab floors, including some specialised pre stressed concrete slabs.  In addition concrete precast panels have been erected, and piers and footings poured.  Initial pavement work to the carpark space has also commenced.

Scope of Works

  • Base building package construction of 30,000m² Harvey Norman retail centre, including reinforced concrete piers and foundations, post tension concrete slabs and structural steel
  • Bulk civil works package, including earthworks for building pads and car park areas
  • Installation of in-ground stormwater and sewerage infrastructure
  • Construction of recreational bio retention basin
  • Establish a fully functional site office (including offices, meeting rooms, lunch rooms, ablution facilities, power, phone, fax, and internet)
  • Construction of sealed 800 space car park
  • Operation and supply of all road and carpark aggregates needed for the road project
  • Establish and operate an onsite mobile concrete batch plant to produce the estimated 10,000m³ of concrete required by the various phases of the work
  • Construction of Tasman Highway extension works to facilitate ingress and egress of traffic for complex
  • Liaison and coordination of electrical, structural and mechanical contractors

Subcontractor management of building trades including:

  • Structural steel
  • Precast panel manufacture and erection
  • Hydraulics
  • Painting, tiling and plastering
  • Roofing
  • Glazing etc
